There are so many different Santa experiences it can be difficult to decide which to go to. It’s also important that whatever you choose suits your child.
When I first saw that Bolsover Castle had a Santa experience I had to book it, in fact I’d booked it back in September to ensure we got the date and time we wanted. I was drawn to it because I knew it was going to be quieter, and more traditional than a lot of experiences.

We arrived early enough that we could wander around the grounds first, then made our way to the exhibition area just before our time slot. Each time slot is approximately 40 minutes, and you’re advised to arrive about 10 minutes before. This is so that the kids can write their list to Santa and do some fun Christmas puzzles.

Once you’ve done this you’ll be guided through to another room where Santa is. You’ll take your seat and listen while Santa tells a story of love and hope. Each child will then be called down one by one to sit with Santa while he “guesses” what they want for Christmas and gives them each a little gift.
If you’re looking for something a little different it really is worth a visit. It was pretty quiet when we went, only about 5 groups of us altogether so it wasn’t overwhelming for anyone and it really was brilliant for everyone there, from the little 5 month old baby having her first visit to Santa, to those of us who are a little past believing.
