This was the first place I took the kids to when we got our National Trust passes back in 2019. Everything is done with kids in mind.
At the moment Sudbury is only open on weekends and during school holidays and you do need to book in advance. There’s plenty of availability, and you can book up until 8am on the morning you plan to visit, but you won’t be able to just turn up without pre booking.

It’s also worth checking the National Trust website and Sudbury Hall’s social media pages for updates on events. There’s quite often extra activities going on, and lots of them are usually at no extra charge. When we visited there was lots of activities outside that were great for everyone to join in, and some extra inside near to the cafe, which were payable activities, but we didn’t have a look at those.

Possibly the main reason we love Sudbury is the Children’s Museum. It’s full of interactive areas, there is literally something to entertain kids round every corner. It’s also brilliant for a nostalgic trip, pointing out all the toys we remember having, as well as seeing how toys and games have changed so much throughout the years.
There really is something for everyone, the only thing I would say, is that, if like us you’re visiting with kids who struggle with crowds and noises it’s worth making sure you pack their ear defenders, because it can get very busy in the museum.
