Shrek’s Adventure- Review

I usually end these posts with my overall opinion. But in this case I’m going to start with it. If anyone was to ask me whether Shrek’s Adventure is worth visiting I’d say, absolutely!! It’s fun for all ages, and if you’re a Shrek fan you will absolutely not want to miss out on this experience.

The Experience

I’m going to call it an experience, because it really is. I wasn’t 100% sure what to expect. I almost expected it to be somewhat similar to some of the large Disney/Pixar and Tim Burton experiences you see where they’re self guided. But, it is far from it. It’s a group experience. There are a few photo opportunities when you first go through admissions and then you’ll queue to “board your tour of Far Far Away”. After boarding the tour bus, driven by Donkey (who else). You’ll find yourself crashing, unfortunately involving Rumplestiltskin’s favourite witch. After this you’ll be journeying through Far Far Away before Rumplestiltskin catches you.

Along the way you’ll have to help several fairytale characters in order to find the ingredients needed for the spell that will eventually get you home.

You’ll be in a large group, and work your way around the experience together, but be warned, there will be times where some of you might be called forward for extra special tasks.

Note: use of mobile phones or cameras is strictly prohibited and you will be asked to turn them off before boarding.

Accessibility

The whole experience is wheelchair accessible, however, there are strict rules in order to be able to accommodate wheelchair use, whilst the experience is level access and has a lift, some areas are narrow and therefore there are some restrictions in place. Buggies will need to be left near to admissions before entering the experience.

There are toilets, including disabled toilets, these are just before you “board” whilst there are disabled toilets I’ve checked the website and can’t find anything regarding changing places toilets, but there is also information for the surrounding area which may include information if needed.

As always there are carers tickets available, and where appropriate you will have fast track entry where it can be proved you or a member of your group are unable to queue. The wait isn’t very long so it is on a needs must basis. Do bear in mind, however, that the attraction is a walking attraction and you will be stood up for the majority of your visit. There are a few points that offer the opportunity to sit down, but as this is also a “timed” tour you will be expected to keep up with all other guests.

There are more details surrounding all different disabilities and accommodations/advice for people with certain health issues on their website for more detailed information. This is purely the few things I noticed on our visit.

Location

Located near to the London Eye, it sits alongside SeaLife, and the London Dungeons, making it perfect if you’re booking multi attraction tickets. You’re also only a short walk from Parliament Square and a short walk in any direction to various stations if you’re wanting to jump on the London Underground, or are visiting other London attractions first.

Food and Drink

There is a small kiosk before boarding offering a few snacks, but due to the nature of the attraction there are no areas to eat. There are no specific signs or instructions to guests not to eat and drink, but bear in mind the nature of the attraction also doesn’t really allow for you to be rummaging in bags for snacks. Make sure you eat before/ plan to eat after and if needs be just have an easy to grab snack, particularly for younger kids. There are lots of cafes and places to grab food on the go near to Shrek’s Adventure so there are still plenty of options.
