National Space Centre-Review

It’s not often you find a place that really is suitable for all ages. Whilst more places are becoming more interactive and engaging for younger visitors there’s quite often still a gap somewhere. But The National Space Centre in Leicester really is one of those places. It’s engaging for young visitors, there’s plenty for slightly older kids, and there’s plenty for adults as well. And, yes it’s totally accessible. There has even been the recent addition of a changing places toilet facility.

Price

It is a little bit on the pricey side, a ticket will set you back £19.95 for an adult and £17.95 for a child. There concession tickets available, and under 5s are free, and each disabled concession is also entitled to a free carer ticket. Your admission tickets are also valid for 12 months, so you can visit again and again. Your initial admission does also include a free show in the planetarium (choose this at checkout).

Food and drink

There is a cafe, although from experience, other than first thing after opening, the queue seems to be consistently long. As such we’ve never purchased anything from the cafe, so I couldn’t comment on the food itself. There is plenty of seating available if you decide to take your own picnic.

Exhibitions

The Space Centre covers so many different aspects of the entire history of the universe and space exploration. Right from the Big Bang, to problems our world is facing today. It’s all split into sections so everything is easy to follow, and everywhere has plenty of interactive opportunities for kids and adults alike. From an interactive kids planetarium to being able to sit back and feel like you’re on a mission launch, and everything in between. There is so much to do we were definitely thankful of the return tickets as it definitely took us 2 visits to be able to take everything in.
